The World Heritage Visitor Center with shop, café and reception
The Visitor Center is the entrance to the world heritage site. Here visitors buy tickets to the radio station and the guided tours, learn about the site, watch the film about the radio station and an exhibition about communication. A small café is located in the visitor center, with organic / fair trade coffee, tea and drinks, sandwiches that are prepared at the site by the staff and also locally produced pastries.
Next to the visitor center there is a large parking area and from here it is easy to reach the visitor center with a children’s pad, wheelchair or walker. The guides use speakers when necessary and additional hearing aids is also available.
The public business is run by the World Heritage Grimeton AB (a wholly owned subsidiary company of the Foundation World Heritage Grimeton) that is completely self-financed. Therefore, in the current situation it is not possible to hold regular open all year round. World Heritage Grimeton Radio Station is open daily during June, July and August, open on weekends and public holidays in May and September, and one Saturday per month during the rest of the year. When the world heritage site is ordinary open, there are always guided tours in Swedish and English. During the rest of the year, the facility is open for special occasions and for pre-booked groups.
World Heritage Grimeton is a living heritage and activities take place all over the facility. Therefore, it is important that visitors respect the boundaries and prohibition signs.
