Classic Afternoon – Generations / Change Music Festival
Welcome to the World Heritage site Grimeton and “Generations” – a world premiere by and with Torbjörn Emily Hultmark
“Many years ago, I saw a street performer in Barcelona blowing enormous shimmering bubbles into the sky. The bubbles took on different shapes, influenced by a wind that was invisible to my eyes. This is a strong memory and it has influenced the creative path I later embarked on. I believe that, like the air, which surrounds us despite being invisible, creativity, the creative process, inspiration, or” the muse “also exists. I have been fascinated by the idea that our indoctrinated concept of time as a progressive line contradicts our more instinctive sense of time, especially when it comes to creativity and music. In Stravinsky’s words:” The phenomenon of music has been given to us with a single purpose, to create order in things.“I don’t think this can be more evident to me than in the creative process. Intuitively, I feel that the piece of music or poetry I am trying to create already exists on another plane, it’s just a matter of finding it and creating order. Since ancient times, inspiration has been seen as a” that “, the creative influence comes from somewhere outside, just as the air shaped the bubbles. This time, we draw inspiration from Grimeton’s long history and unique soundscape.” //Emily Hultmark
