Experience the wings of history where they can truly be heard! On July 5, the Grimeton Radio Station World Heritage site invites you to Alexanderson Day – a unique and lively family day filled with world-class technology, culture, and experiences.

During the day, the radio station comes to life with the legendary Alexanderson alternator, the only one of its kind in the world that still works. Meet dedicated guides, see the machine in operation, and take part in the story of how Grimeton Radio Station has been a part of global communication for over a hundred years.

 

We do this both on-site and over the airwaves through

Times for the day will be published during May

⚙️ Transmission with SAQ at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM using the now 100-year-old Alexanderson transmitter. Startup begins 30 minutes before the broadcast.
🍲 The Dining Room in the World Heritage visitor center is open all day, serving breakfast (9:00–11:00 AM), lunch (11:30 AM–2:00 PM), and coffee and snacks (all day)
📢 SK6SAQ, our very own Amateur Radio Shack, staffed by our radio amateurs
🚶‍♀️ Guided walks, where you can learn about the radio station, why radio and world heritage are important, and much more
🛠️ The Workshop is our space for crafts and creating your own projects

Registration and tickets

🎫 Tickets can be purchased via our website, or at the Visitor Center upon arrival, subject to availability. On this day, all program activities are included in the entrance ticket.
