Swedish Humanistic Federation, founded in 1896, is an open movement for all who are interested in humanistic education. The federation continues and re-examines a humanistic educational heritage and keeps the discussion alive about humanistic values. In the Swedish folk education tradition, the federation works with lectures, debates, trips, and publications, among other things. The federation is completely politically and religiously neutral and is organized into about twenty local federations, which in many places have an important role in local cultural life and the ongoing discussion about humanistic heritage and humanistic values. The federation board supports the local federations in their work, is responsible for the annual publication, for the annual gathering in connection with the annual meeting, and for other initiatives at the national level.
