Raise World Heritage Issues in School!
Visit the Grimeton World Heritage Site
Various school classes and children’s and youth groups visit Grimeton Radio Station every year. Our school programs are specially designed to suit different ages and subject areas.
Understanding, taking responsibility for, and feeling involved in one’s own cultural and natural environment is important for young people. Actively learning about world heritage in Sweden also increases understanding—and interest—in world heritage far from our own country. “In children and young people, we have the key to a future society where cultural tolerance and respect for differences shall come true.” UNESCO.
World Heritage in Sweden – Places that Make a Difference
To make your visit as meaningful as possible, we are happy to suggest materials that can be used in continued teaching after your visit. World Heritage in Sweden, ViS, has produced some short films that can be shown to students either before or after the visit and are about UNESCO’s work with world heritage through the World Heritage Convention. Here is a new and accessible “toolbox” so you can talk about these places with your students.

How Does Grimeton Radio Station Make a Difference?
Grimeton Radio Station, Varberg is the best place in the world to experience and understand the development of wireless communication. The site, with its unique values, is important for all humanity, and only by managing, using, and developing it do we contribute to a better and kinder world.
It also contributes to increased understanding and knowledge about why radio is needed in society and is still an important societal actor in the field after 100 years. The management challenges and inspires existing systems and ideas through various issues, such as buffer zones, protection of intangible values, working methods, and financing. The site creates pride and community among the local residents, contributing to new activities and products in the surroundings for both locals and visitors. For the regional tourism industry, the site has also become an increasingly important actor.
School Program with Excitement
Code Breakers and World Heritage Guardians
At the Grimeton Radio Station World Heritage Site, students dive into the fascinating world of radio communication and discover how past innovations have shaped today’s society. During this exciting program, playful activities are combined with knowledge and collaboration—all in the unique environment of the world heritage site.
The visit begins with an introductory tour of the world heritage site and its unique technology, and then students test their skills as code breakers and problem solvers. During “Signal Intelligence,” students search for hidden Morse signals that reveal secret messages, and in the dramatic “Sabotage,” they face the challenge of solving a mission using clues and sharp minds. Students also have the opportunity to create and send Morse signals themselves via our interactive data table in the exhibition hall.
With a focus on problem-solving, collaboration, and the significance of cultural heritage, students gain a deeper understanding of how history and modern technology are interconnected. This gives students the opportunity to feel like guardians of a world heritage site and understand how it can belong to all of us—while having a lot of fun.

Welcome to an adventure where radio waves and world heritage meet during an exciting discovery journey!
At the Grimeton Radio Station World Heritage Site, students experience how history, technology, and collaboration can open doors to both the past and the future. During this program, we take students on a journey from the early days of radio communication to today’s society, where radio technology still plays a crucial role.
After the introduction, students test their skills as code breakers and problem solvers. In “Signal Intelligence,” they find hidden Morse signals and decrypt secret messages, while “Sabotage” challenges them to follow clues and reveal the culprit.
