Unique concert with soprano Karin Dahlberg and Bernt Wilhelmsson

Soprano Karin Dahlberg and pianist Bernt Wilhelmsson visit the Grimeton World Heritage Site with a unique concert in the radio station’s broadcasting hall, the place where Karin’s grandfather Hans Palmqvist was station manager for 40 years.

Karin Dahlberg, born and raised in Håcksvik, has sung on several European concert stages and has a special relationship with the radio station. The concert will therefore be a grand and warmly personal encounter with both the music and these two great musicians in a different setting in the heart of the radio station, where communication has been the key word since 1924. This concert is part of the Grimeton World Heritage Site’s ‘Communication for better or worse’.

The program to be performed in Grimeton will include Gösta Nystroem’s ‘På reveln’ and from Mahler’s ‘Rückert Lieder’. But also opera gems such as Puccini’s ‘O mio babbino caro’, Handel’s ‘Lascia ch’io pianga’ and Purcell’s ‘Music for a while’. The audience is treated to music from Italy, England, Sweden, Germany and is also washed by a long wave from America in Duke Ellington’s “Heaven”.

About Karin Dahlberg

Karin Dahlberg (formerly Roman) is a Swedish soprano with an extensive repertoire from baroque to contemporary music. Since her debut in 2004, with Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, she has performed with numerous Swedish and international orchestras. In recent seasons, Karin has been a regular soloist at the Berliner Philharmonie in works such as Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and Verdi’s Requiem. Karin’s vocal versatility also allows her to move freely within the musical and jazz genres, and she has performed jazz standards and Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert with big bands.

Karin is a devoted singer of romances and has collaborated with pianist Bernt Wilhelmsson for many years. Together, they have performed in Sweden and internationally to rave reviews. Karin Dahlberg received the Varberg Municipality’s Culture Scholarship in 2002 and on June 6, 2023 she was also awarded the Varberg Municipality’s Honorary Plaque in Culture.
