Visit Us on UN Day – Free Entry and Transmitter Start

Every year, we commemorate the important UN Day here at the World Heritage Grimeton Radio Station. This year is no exception. We are offering free entry to both the Transmitter Hall and our wonderful interactive Exhibition. You are warmly welcome to come and meet members of our friends association who will start the Alexanderson transmitter and the radio amateurs who will man the radio shack SK6SAQ and broadcast shortwave radio.

UN Day, Monday, October 24, 2022

  • Free entry between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
    (You do not need to purchase a ticket, just show up on site. (Please note that entry is subject to availability due to the maximum number of people allowed in the venue).
  • You will have access to the Transmitter Hall and the Exhibition.
  • The Alexander Friends Association will be in the Transmitter Hall during the day to answer questions about our unique Alexanderson transmitter. They will also show the film “Like a Lightning Across the Atlantic”.
  • The transmitter will be started and demonstrated at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM . Note! No transmission will be made on UN Day this year (The next SAQ transmission is planned for November 16 when the World Heritage Convention celebrates its 50th anniversary).
  • The radio amateurs will man the radio shack SK6SAQ and broadcast shortwave radio.

Please note that the Visitor Center with café and shop is not open on this day. However, toilets are available in the Transmitter Hall. Feel free to use our Outdoor Grill and bring something delicious to grill for a pleasant outdoor lunch with a view of the transmitter towers. You can purchase a grill ticket here.
