Grimethlon 2025 – a long wave challenge in Åkulla Beech forests
June 15th, during Åkullaveckan 2025 it will happen! You can do the very first Grimethlon of your life. A triathlon based on a Grimetonian long wave length, more precisely 17,440 meters. Just as far as a radio wave from the now anniversary-celebrating radio station at the Grimeton World Heritage Site that has been shortening distances between people for a hundred years.
In beautiful Åkulla Bokskogar during the most beautiful time, you can complete the race where you cycle, run and swim the total distance. Exact milestones are not fully determined yet, but they are about 12 km cycling, 5 km running and 440 m swimming in the lake. This longwave challenge is a tribute to the #100yearsofcommunication and all the fit mast workers who have kept communication going from Varberg to Long Island, New York since the Alexander transmitter was put into service on December 1, 1924. By challenging yourself in a Grimethlon, you are also helping to preserve the world heritage!
Exact date to be announced shortly. Registration opens in february 2025.
Grimethlon 2025 is organized by Hanna Arnell / Lätta Steg in Varberg in collaboration with Åkulla Skidallians and Åkulla Bokskogar.
