Dawn Climb! Operation Falcon Eye – Climb with a Guide 127 Meters

During World War II, there was increased readiness at the radio station. In addition to patrolling the area and constructing shelters, a lookout post was also established in the first antenna tower. Through a narrow slit, the high-altitude guard could scan for unusual activity in the area and eliminate potential threats well in advance.

With the wind and the occasional kestrel for company, participants can experience what it was like to ascend to great heights for a risky mission. Operation Falcon Eye is a dizzying high-altitude exercise 127 meters above ground where your abilities, vision, strength, and balance are put to the test. During the anniversary year, we offer both a number of open climbs like this day – and the opportunity to book private times for groups or friends. For group bookings, email info@grimeton.org

For this dawn climb, you’ll gather at the Visitor Center at 4:30 AM to receive equipment and information before climbing upwards.

On this day, May 1st, we also have a Dawn Chorus at 7:00 AM and hope many will come to celebrate May Day with their picnic baskets on the World Heritage site’s lawn. So when you come back down to the ground, you’re welcome to do the same!
