The Chamber Physics Ensemble Presents our Radioactive Life

Grimeton Radio Station turns 100 this year. Onsala Space Observatory turns 75. And without impulses from geniuses in many European countries, we wouldn’t have much of today’s technology. Radio as radio, you might think. But not at all! Radio at Grimeton is communication between people, while radio at Onsala is about receiving radiation from space. In the midst of it all, we have radioactivity, and that’s something entirely different…

Here is the Chamber Physics Ensemble’s cheerful performance about the oddity that billions of people can be in contact with each other simultaneously! Or that we can receive faint signals that have traveled for several billion years in space, strange things in our bodies, and everyday forces that are invisible but still exist. About inventors in Germany, Denmark, England, almost one in Italy, in the Balkans, France, and Holland.
With the help of, among others, chicken cages, a stone from Filipstad, Jolly Roger, a hurdy-gurdy, Alf Henriksson, a drill core, Mark Twain, and Aunt Elsa’s flower pot.

The professional Chamber Physics Ensemble unabashedly popularizes natural sciences, humanities, and technology. The ensemble, formed in 2010, has visited several places, including Cambridge, UK, where it received its favorite review “brilliant, an ingenious concept and very funny”. Music by Mozart, Imagine Dragons, Schumann, Lasse Dahlqvist, Purcell, Beethoven, Skoog, and others.

PREMIERE AT THE WORLD HERITAGE GRIMETON ON FEBRUARY 21, 2025
The performance will then be played at 9 more locations in Halland during the 100th anniversary.
